OfficeOne List PowerPoint Add-Ins

Microsoft PowerPoint supports add-ins that allow developers to extend its functionality with new features. Add-Ins come in two flavors (COM and PPA/PPAM) and can be registered for use by all users or by the current user only. Additionally, add-ins can be registered for use by some versions of PowerPoint only.

List PowerPoint Add-Ins is a small executable that collects information on various PowerPoint add-ins that are registered on your computer. The output looks like this:

The way you would read this is as follows:

  • "A" means "All Users". So, a heading like "A 2000" would mean All Users of PowerPoint 2000 on the machine. A "Yes" for an add-in means this add-in is active for the corresponding version of PowerPoint.
  • "C" means "Current User". So, a heading like "C 2003" would mean the PowerPoint 2003 instance in the current user's account. A "Yes" in this column means this add-in is active for this user in the corresponding version of PowerPoint.
  • All sorts of combinations exist. Some add-ins are for PowerPoint 2000 for some users on the machine but not for some others (disabled), etc. Some add-ins are for some version of PowerPoint only, etc.

For instance,

  • OfficeOne PowerShow has 2 entries:

    • OfficeOne PowerShow, which is a PPAM add-in and is registered for use for All Users for PowerPoint 2007 (A 2007) and 2010 (A 2010).

    • PowerShow, which is a PPA add-in and is registered for use for All Users for all versions of PowerPoint from 2000 to 2010.

  • OfficeOne Shape Locker has 1 entry - a PPAM add-in that is registered for use for All Users of PowerPoint 2007 and 2010.
